Lewis Hamilton almost had the same accident as Charles Leclerc
Third at the end of the Sprint race, Lewis Hamilton almost suffered the same misfortune as his team-mate, Charles Leclerc, on his first grid lap.

The Sprint format seems to be favorable for Lewis Hamilton since his arrival at Ferrari. Already a winner in China, the Briton managed to take advantage of the changing track conditions to climb from seventh place to the podium at the end of the Sprint race.
However, he could have been caught out during his reconnaissance lap when Ferrari decided to send both drivers out on intermediates while the rain continued to fall on the track.
“>Charles Leclerc went off in aquaplaning on the straight and destroyed his car.<"
During the post-race press conference, the Briton admitted that he almost experienced the same fate: « I was right behind Charles. I had exactly the same thing as him but the car stopped just before the wall. » Already, just after the event, he didn't fail to point out on the radio that he didn't understand the pit wall's decision to send both drivers out without rain tires.
Once the race finally started, he wasn't satisfied with his car's performance in the first phase of the race. So he waited for the track to be dry enough to switch to medium tires: « I had been thinking about it for a few laps and finally decided to come in because I wasn't getting anywhere at that point. » His pace allowed him to get the better of both Mercedes drivers and overtake Max Verstappen, who was admittedly slowed down by a damaged front wing from his collision in the pit lane with Kimi Antonelli.
Despite this new podium, he is still not satisfied with the behavior of his car: "We have good aerodynamic downforce but we are not able to extract the full potential of the car. We should be closer to Red Bull and McLaren. We need to raise our game."
Depending on this afternoon's weather conditions, we will see if he can do better than yesterday's seventh place time.
