The McLaren driver shone by winning the sprint race and finishing on the podium in the main race, but had to concede first place to his teammate, Oscar Piastri, after a close fight.

A controlled victory during the Sprint

From Friday, Lando Norris showed his potential by winning the sprint race. Initially behind his teammate, Oscar Piastri, a perfect timing during the pit stop under the safety car allowed him to take the lead. Once in front, he managed the pressure and kept his composure to secure the victory. This performance earned him 8 points and positioned him favorably for the rest of the weekend.

Strong qualifications

Saturday saw Lando Norris secure second position in the qualifications. He posted an impressive time, starting alongside Max Verstappen on the front row. Despite a slight delay on the pole, Lando Norris proved that McLaren was extremely competitive on this track, ahead of drivers like Kimi Antonelli and his teammate Oscar Piastri. A promising start for the main race, though the competition looks fierce.

A tight race battle

On Sunday, during the main race, Lando Norris did not disappoint. From the start, he maintained his lead position before Piastri, who was faster, took advantage in the 14th lap. Despite strong resistance, Lando Norris was unable to match the relentless pace of his teammate and had to settle for second place. A one-two finish for McLaren, who dominated the race, but a victory that narrowly eluded Norris.

« It’s never the best feeling to be second, but the team did an incredible job, so I have nothing to fault them for. We were ahead, so it’s still a good feeling. Oscar drove very well, Max fought hard as always, so that’s how it is. I paid the price for not doing a good job today, but I’m still happy with this second place. »

Lando Norris leaves Miami with solid results, but it’s his teammate Oscar Piastri who remains the big winner of the weekend, with a brilliant victory.
