Lando Norris puts in a solid performance despite missing out on victory
Lando Norris put in a remarkable performance at the Spanish Grand Prix, held this Sunday on the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit. Despite a difficult start from the front row, McLaren's British driver climbed back to finish second, contributing to his team's historic one-two finish behind team-mate Oscar Piastri.

Starting from the front row, Lando Norris lost ground from the first corner, being overtaken by Max Verstappen and George Russell. This initial loss of positions complicated his race, but thanks to an effective strategy and a controlled management of his tires, he managed to climb back up to second place, notably overtaking the Red Bull driver on the thirteenth lap.
“I tried to overtake Oscar Piastri, but when you’re following the same car with the same strengths and weaknesses, it’s very difficult. Oscar Piastri drove well all weekend, on our side, it was a calm race. We were under pressure from Max Verstappen, he was fast and with the three stops, he was solid. That seemed like a better strategy than the two stops. We need to learn from that,” said the McLaren driver at the end of the race.
A performance that strengthens his position in the championship.
With this second place, Lando Norris consolidates his position in the World Drivers’ Championship. He now totals 176 points and two victories, thus placing himself in second position ahead of Max Verstappen, who has 137 points with also two victories. This performance confirms McLaren’s competitiveness this season and the consistency of Lando Norris, who has scored points in every Grand Prix so far.
