British Grand Prix: Lando Norris fastest in Free Practice 2
The second free practice session of the 2025 British Grand Prix saw Britain's Lando Norris set the fastest time on the Silverstone circuit. Drivers took advantage of dry, sunny conditions to fine-tune their set-ups ahead of qualifying the following day.

McLaren confirms its form
Lando Norris impressed by recording the fastest time of the session with a lap of 1:25.816, narrowly ahead of his teammate Oscar Piastri, who was fourth. This performance confirms McLaren’s competitiveness on this fast and technical track.
Ferrari demonstrates strength
Charles Leclerc (2nd) and Lewis Hamilton (3rd) have shown that they remain serious contenders in the fight at the front. Lewis Hamilton, driving on his home circuit, seems particularly motivated to shine in front of his crowd. Ferrari demonstrates a good balance and a notable rise in performance since the start of the season.
Red Bull in search of settings
Max Verstappen, often dominant, only finished in fifth place, suggesting that the Austrian team is still adjusting its settings for Silverstone. Their performances in the upcoming sessions will need to be observed.
The other performances to note
Mercedes progresses with Kimi Antonelli (6th) and George Russell (8th) who post encouraging times. Aston Martin remains competitive with Lance Stroll (7th) and Fernando Alonso (12th), while Racing Bulls places Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson in the top 10.
This FP2 session provided a clear insight into the competing forces. McLaren seems well-equipped for the qualifying battle, Ferrari remains in contention, and Red Bull will have to optimize their car to hope to return to the lead.
The third free practice session (FP3) is scheduled for tomorrow morning, followed by the qualifying session in the afternoon, which will determine the starting grid for Sunday’s race.
