Lewis Hamilton admits his Ferrari was “very difficult to drive” at Silverstone after 4th place finish
Lewis Hamilton finishes 4th at Silverstone: « A difficult race in a very complicated car to drive. »

Lewis Hamilton fought for the podium at the British Grand Prix but ultimately fell just over five seconds short, crossing the finish line in 4th position driving his Ferrari.
A difficult race for the Briton at home
The seven-time world champion described the race as difficult, admitting that his single-seater had been very complicated to drive in the changing conditions of Silverstone.
After showing a good pace at times over the weekend, Lewis Hamilton started from 5th place on the grid. He clearly had his sights set on the podium, an objective he almost achieved.
At 40, he found himself in 4th position in the final laps, chasing Nico Hülkenberg, then 3rd. But he couldn’t close the gap. “It was a tough race, not great on my part. I did my best,” said Lewis Hamilton after getting out of his car.
« As we’ve seen, there were quite a few mistakes on the track, the conditions were really complicated, and this car is very, very difficult to drive in these conditions, it doesn’t like them at all. It’s not ideal, but at least we’re scoring points. »
A lack of rhythm at the end
The pace of the Ferrari driver seemed to decline during his second stint on intermediate tires, before a final switch to soft tires.
Questioned about this phase of the race, Lewis Hamilton stated: « The tires were starting to fall apart, the car doesn’t like slow corners, a lot of understeer, and I began to destroy the front left tire. After that, I couldn’t keep up. »
Despite the frustration of missing the podium at home, he wanted to focus on the support of the crowd. “What I take away is the incredible energy of the fans. They were amazing this weekend. It was great to see so many people in red, and yes, we still scored some points,” he says.
