Lance Stroll furious after the British Grand Prix: « It’s the worst shit I’ve ever driven »
Lance Stroll was furious after the race at Silverstone. « It's the worst piece of shit I've ever driven »," he declared, despite finishing 7th.

Lance Stroll did not mince his words after a tumultuous British Grand Prix, calling his Aston Martin “the worst piece of crap I have ever driven,” despite a fine comeback to 7th place.
Lance Stroll unhappy with his result
The Canadian still delivered a solid race at Silverstone, climbing up to 3rd position midway through the event. But as the track gradually dried, he struggled with tire degradation and was successively overtaken by Nico Hülkenberg, Lewis Hamilton, then Max Verstappen and Pierre Gasly in the final laps.
At the finish, Lance Stroll let loose on the radio when his engineer Gary Gannon congratulated him for an incredible finish.
Gary Gannon: « Yeah, crazy car to drive, incredible finish. » To which Lance Stroll replies: « Yeah, crazy is an understatement. Honestly, it’s the worst piece of crap I’ve ever driven in my life. But hey, 7th. »
The Canadian ahead of his teammate in the championship
Despite his frustration, this result allows Lance Stroll to overtake his teammate Fernando Alonso in the drivers’ championship.
Fernando Alonso, who finished 9th, also complained on the radio, once again criticizing the strategic decisions on his side of the garage, suggesting that they often benefit Lance Stroll more.
Lance Stroll had already finished 6th in Australia early in the season, in the rain, after a poor qualifying session.
Reflecting on his race at Silverstone, he stated: « Very contrasting weekend for us, we had a good pace on Friday during practice, but we couldn’t capitalize on it in qualifying, so we started from the back. The team made good strategic choices, and in the end, it’s a good result. I really struggled with the tires, we didn’t have the means to fight for more. [Nico] Hülkenberg had much more grip at the end, and with our level of degradation, we got the best possible result. »
Lance Stroll’s performance praised
The boss of Aston Martin, Andy Cowell, still made it a point to highlight the resilience of the Canadian driver: “It was an intense and difficult afternoon at Silverstone. Lance and Fernando fought hard to score eight points between them [Lance 7th, Fernando 9th]. We fought at the front, but our pace dropped once the DRS was activated and the track completely dried out.”
« We probably switched Fernando to dry tires a little too early, but he was still able to climb back into the points. Lance drove very well today: not a single mistake. Given the pace of the car, 7th place is an excellent result », he says.
« In this kind of race in the rain, we often replay the event and tell ourselves that we could have done things differently, like all the teams, probably. But we can be satisfied with bringing both cars into the points at home. »
