Christian Horner bids farewell to Red Bull in a moving message on social networks

Christian Horner has shared his first public comments after being replaced as CEO and team principal of Red Bull Racing, stating that he leaves the team « with a heavy heart » but with « immense pride » for their journey and success in Formula 1.

Former driver and team boss in Formula 3000, Christian Horner had the opportunity to take the reins of Red Bull in its first F1 season in 2005 – becoming at just 31 years old the youngest team principal in the history of the sport.

An unexpected departure

By surrounding himself with key recruits at all levels, he oversaw the rise of Red Bull from a promising brand to a world champion. To date, the team boasts 107 pole positions, 124 Grand Prix wins, 287 podiums, six constructor titles, and eight driver titles.

After the announcement on Wednesday of a reshuffle at the head of the team – Laurent Mekies, former director of Racing Bulls, taking over at Red Bull, while Alan Permane takes the vacant position at Racing Bulls.

Christian Horner speaks in an emotional message

Christian Horner spoke on social media to share his impressions. « After an incredible 20-year journey, it is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye today to the team I have loved so much », wrote Christian Horner in a message posted shortly after the tributes from Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda.

« Each of you, the extraordinary people at the factory, has been the heart and soul of everything we have achieved. Victories or defeats, at every step, we remained united, and I will never forget that. »

« It was a privilege to be part of this incredible team and to lead it. I am so proud of everything we have accomplished together. »

« Thank you to our amazing partners and fans, who allowed us to experience this adventure. Your support enabled the team to go from modest beginnings to an F1 powerhouse, with six constructor titles and eight driver titles. »

« Thank you also to our rivals—without you, there would simply be no race. You have pushed us, challenged us, and allowed us to reach heights we never imagined. The competition has made every victory sweeter and every setback more formative. »

« Formula 1 is a sport built on relentless ambition, passion, and respect. Rivalries have been intense, but the common drive to innovate and push boundaries has made this journey so special. »

« It was an honor to be part of this incredible era of motorsport. I leave with immense pride for everything we have accomplished, as well as for what’s being prepared for 2026 – and with deep respect for all those who make F1 the pinnacle it is today », he concluded.
