In 2016, a young French driver named Esteban Ocon made his grand debut in Formula 1. Behind the wheel of a very modest Manor powered by Mercedes, Ocon replaced the Indonesian Ryo Haryanto as teammate to Pascal Wehrlein. A time long past but a memory still present for the Haas driver.

« The dream started here. I was on the grid next to names like Jenson Button and all those guys who are legends of the sport. It was crazy. It had rained a lot that weekend and I will remember it forever for sure. Today, I return in a very different position and with different goals. Coming to Spa is always special for many reasons. »

Ocon took advantage of the break since the British Grand Prix to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed. A highly enriching experience for the French driver.

« Going to Goodwood will certainly not help me for Spa! It was an incredible experience. I enjoyed every moment spent there. Driving the 2023 and 2024 single-seaters of the team in front of half a million people was something insane. I want to thank Toyota for allowing me to drive their WRC car as well as their new GT concept car. It will be forever etched in my memory. »

The current 10th place in the championship also revealed his objectives for the Belgian Grand Prix.

« The objective will be to put everything together. To perform better than in the last race at Silverstone. There is the Sprint, so we will have little time to be ready, so let’s hope for a good weekend.

Haas F1 is currently 9th in the championship with 29 points.
