McLaren F1 aims for a fourth consecutive one-two in Hungary
After another dominant performance at Spa-Francorchamps, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have high ambitions for the Hungarian Grand Prix, where they will once again start as favourites.
By securing a victory in Belgium with its two drivers on the top two steps of the podium, the McLaren team achieved its sixth podium of the season and its third consecutive one after those in Austria and Great Britain. An undisputed domination for the team of Team Principal Andrea Stella, who is soaring through this 2025 season in both championships.
Winner at Spa and championship leader, Oscar Piastri is looking forward to returning to a circuit he enjoys in Budapest, as this is where he won the first F1 Grand Prix of his career a year ago.
« I was very happy with my pace in the last races and I am in a good position before heading to the Hungaroring. We had productive days at Spa and I want to build on that. I have good memories of Hungary and I’m determined to create new ones this year. I’m looking forward to being back in the car to drive again », said the Australian driver ahead of this last race weekend before the summer break.
Second at Spa despite his pole position, Lando Norris wants to get back on track which saw him dominate his teammate at the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone.
I can’t wait to go to Budapest this weekend. It’s always a nice city to visit, and the fans are always kind to us, so I’m excited to see them all in the stands.
Regarding on-track performance, Norris has worked a lot with his team since last weekend to understand what he was missing to secure the victory in Belgium.
« We’ve had a good season so far, so it would be nice to go on vacation with another good result. With my engineers, we debriefed last weekend and made good preparations for Hungary. So I’m ready for another good weekend. »
Only 16 points separate the two McLaren drivers in the championship with 11 races still to go this season.
