Super-Aguri, which was in front of its home crowd this weekend, was unable to continue the efforts that had been made on Friday. But on Friday, the conditions were dry, and since then events have spiraled out of control.

As soon as the rain appeared on Saturday, the team was nothing but a shadow of itself. The qualifications were missed and the race followed the same pattern. However, the only ray of sunshine on this very rainy day, Sato, the native of the country, finished the GP for his public! He finished 15th. Davidson, on the other hand, retired.

Takuma Sato – 15th

“I had never before experienced such a long period behind the safety car, and it was very cold in the cockpit. As soon as we started, visibility was zero on the main straight and then suddenly someone braked in front of me, we touched, and I damaged my front nose.”

“When the rain became lighter, I had less fuel and a new set of rain tires. With this combination, unfortunately, the tires overheated and I lost a lot of grip. It’s a disappointing result for the team after a difficult weekend for everyone, and I would like to thank the supporters who backed us in such horrible weather.”

Anthony Davidson – retirement

“It was a very difficult day here in Fuji. The very wet conditions made it very tough for all drivers. I was happy to make no mistakes, but unfortunately, I had to retire from the race due to a failure on the power control probe, which put me out of the race.”

“It is very disappointing to finish on this note after having done a good job, but I am looking forward to China where we can hopefully rectify the situation.”

Aguri Suzuki – Team Director

“It was a very difficult race today due to the weather. Both drivers did a good job and it’s very frustrating to see the issues that occurred during the race for both drivers.”

“Fog and rain are the usual weather at Fuji, although today it was wetter than normal. Our team must survive this type of race even if the team is very unhappy with today’s result.”
