McLaren and Prodrive have agreed to a partnership in 2008 but are simply waiting for the confirmation of the 2008 regulations, Ron Dennis stated in Japan. The two teams have been discussing a possible collaboration for a long time in order to share a “chassis-engine” package for Prodrive’s F1 debut next year. The only uncertainty lies in the definition of the Prodrive team as allegedly non-constructors.

The meetings that took place this year resulted in a unanimous definition of a constructor status, but the distribution of revenue for the other teams still needs to be clarified to likely include Toro Rosso and Super-Aguri in 2008.

Alex Wurz, who is on the market for drivers for 2008, recently stated that he sees the end of September as a kind of deadline for Prodrive to send him a strong signal about its presence or absence in F1 in 2008.

Finally, Dennis indicated in Japan that the project is tight for the moment. They still have a little time to get things in order and make everything clear, and when that is done, McLaren will make this agreement official, with the approval of our company’s shareholders, he concluded.
