Honda eagerly awaits the Chinese Grand Prix, which still appears quite uncertain for the team. Indeed, a few days ago in Japan, despite deplorable weather conditions, both drivers, Barrichello and Button, finished 10th and 11th. However, it’s noteworthy that they completed the race. Therefore, reliability is not the primary concern.

In the standings, Barrichello only has two races left to score his first points this season. As for the team, they have their sights set on the Super-Aguri team, which is only two points ahead.

Jenson Button

« The Shanghai circuit is demanding and technical for drivers, but it’s also a real pleasure to drive on it. The difficulty of the turns means that physically, they are hard to endure, especially around the neck. »

« At turns 7, 8, and 9, the G-force is so strong that you can’t breathe. There are some good overtaking opportunities, particularly at the first turn and then also after the second straight, which is unique to this circuit. »

Rubens Barrichello

Shanghai is a racing venue where the event proves to be fantastic with impressive facilities and a layout of the track that is modern and exciting. I won the very first Grand Prix here in 2004, so I have very fond memories of this place.

The combination of long straights and low to medium-speed corners thus forms an exciting technical layout. The main feature is the length of certain corners. The complex including the first corner is particular with a combination of heavy braking and lateral acceleration.

Shuhei Nakamoto – Technical Director

« After a good qualifying strategy in Fuji last Saturday, we were disappointed not to convert this into a race result to score points. We are now heading to China and hoping for better things at the Shanghai International Circuit.

« It’s a very technical track that emphasizes driver skill and car stability. Our drivers are looking forward to the challenge. We have some data from our recent tests in Jerez that will prove useful this weekend. We hope that we can finish the season on a good note and with one or two additional points. »
