The first weather forecasts predict rain for part of the weekend. This news will not instill confidence in some teams. This is the case for Team Williams, which has a very bad memory of the last GP run in Japan just a few days ago. Indeed, both drivers involved, Rosberg and Wurz, retired during the race while rain and fog were pervasive.

The British team will therefore work with the goal of scoring points. Currently 4th in the constructors’ championship, they view Red Bull’s return (5th) unfavorably and are determined to curb this comeback.

Nico Rosberg

Shanghai is a good circuit and it should suit our car. It is also a big city, so I am looking forward to a very pleasant weekend for both of these reasons.

« I hope we can continue to prove our current good form. The one we demonstrated in the last races because it is really important now that we keep Red Bull at a sufficient distance from our 4th place. Before going to Shanghai, I will be in Hong Kong for a few days for some sales commitments for our partners, RBS and Oris.

Alex Wurz

« I remember the Shanghai circuit very well from last year because I set an impressive time on Friday by recording the fastest times during the first two free practice sessions. The layout of the circuit should suit our car and my driving style. »

« Thus I have hope for good results for this penultimate Grand Prix of the season. In terms of facilities, the track has all sorts of criteria. The long straights obviously require low aerodynamic downforce. This proves to be the opposite on the rest of the circuit, so the best option is to opt for a compromise between mechanical and aerodynamic settings. »

Sam Michael – Technical Director

« Due to numerous direction changes throughout the entire circuit, we will race with a number of rear wings. There are, however, very long straights where top speed is crucial. All of these elements will be taken into account in developing our strategies. »

« China usually requires two stops in terms of race strategy. There were variable weather conditions last season. The latest forecasts show that this situation may recur this year, which will surely spice things up! After the result in Japan, we are working to score points again at the Chinese Grand Prix and to strengthen our fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. »
