After the accident at turn 5 involving Fernando Alonso during the Japanese Grand Prix, his car or rather, what was left of it, was attempted to be repaired by the mechanics, but without success.

The Spaniard will therefore have at his disposal in China, for the penultimate GP of the season, a brand new chassis, shipped by the McLaren factory in Woking right after the Fuji race.

Despite having lost valuable points, the double world champion knows that he has probably given the title to his teammate, and moreover, he will have to adjust an entirely new car for himself in China.

« This chassis will be the one for the mule, but Fernando Alonso will use it as a race chassis in China, » comments a McLaren report…

Alonso is 12 points behind Hamilton and knows that catching up won’t be easy in just two races: « My retirement in Japan hasn’t made the championship easy for me, but there are 20 points still up for grabs, and I’ll fight for each one of them! » insisted the Spaniard.

Alonso has also changed his engine, but will not lose any places on the starting grid.
