It took half a day for Red Bull to get accustomed to the conditions the track presented. From that moment on, Webber and Coulthard had a very good second free practice session.
The Australian finished 18th and 6th with 52 laps completed throughout the day. As for the Scot, he proved more consistent by securing 13th and 8th places after completing nearly 67 laps.
Marc Webber – 18th and 6th
“It was a good Friday overall. We completed our day’s program and the car was reliable. We will work tonight on a few small things to see if we can achieve a bit more consistency, but aside from that, the second session was very productive. The morning session didn’t go well for us, but the afternoon one was much better.”
“Far from today’s events, I would just like to make it clear that, although I criticized Hamilton for his driving in Japan at yesterday’s press conference, at no point did I file any official complaint about anyone who may have driven at Sunday’s Japanese Grand Prix.”
David Coulthard – 13th and 8th
“We ran based on our scheduled program for today and in terms of balance, we seemed in a good position. We had a good assessment of the tires, so we are not overly concerned about the choices we need to make for tomorrow.”
“Our times were encouraging, but to be honest, regardless of where we are on Friday, if you look at the qualifying times on Saturday, McLaren, Ferrari, and BMW are largely dominating but they are quite similar to those produced by Renault, Toyota, and Williams. I think tomorrow will be a situation similar to previous GPs.”
