Ferrari is in good form this weekend and has shown it all day, unlike previous race weekends where McLaren or the Scuderia would take the advantage in one or the other sessions, but never in both.
The Scuderia this time showed good consistency, thanks to Räikkönen in particular, but the 4 protagonists are neck and neck. Tomorrow, all strengths will need to be utilized to achieve the best time.
Kimi Räikkönen – 1st and 1st
« It’s a good Friday, but our results are still irrational since we don’t know the real performance of our rivals. The car quickly proved to be well-balanced, but there’s always room to improve the car. »
The track is indeed very slippery, but fortunately, mistakes and off-track excursions are harmless thanks to the circuit’s various run-offs.
« I expect a very close fight tomorrow.
Felipe Massa – 3rd and 3rd
« We are all very close together given that the gap, this morning and this afternoon, was only 3 tenths for the top 4… I’m happy with this first day and I hope to continue like this for the rest of the weekend. We worked a lot on the car setups and I think we are on the right track. The track is dirty and slippery but it will improve day by day. »
Luca Baldisserri – Chief Engineer (race and testing)
« There isn’t much to say about this day. We followed the usual program, trying various settings and the two types of tires available for this weekend. The track was really slippery. »
« The competition is very tight, much like it has been all season. It’s the details that will play a major role and we will give it our all. »
