The small Scuderia achieves results this Saturday that raise hopes for perhaps a first point in the world championship. Indeed, the free practice 3 took place in dry conditions and perfectly aligned with the team’s expectations.
The qualification could only go well, even though there are some regrets for narrowly missing the super pole. The settings of Liuzzi and Vettel’s single-seaters certainly had something to do with this final result.
Today, the conditions were optimal, and the drivers are in 11th and 12th place on the starting grid, but tomorrow promises to be a different day with very likely rain…
Vitantonio Liuzzi – 12th and 11th
“In general, a good qualification and I think the whole team can be proud of this result achieved in dry conditions. Yesterday went well, and this morning, we worked hard to achieve the best possible setup, always keeping in mind that we might have a wet race tomorrow.”
“In Q1, I had a bit of traffic so I couldn’t make the most of the car, but we did it safely in Q2. Maybe I could have achieved a better result if I could have avoided some understeer, but to be eleventh, that is, on the brink of Q3, we did a good job.”
Sebastian Vettel – 16th and 12th
“This day turned out better than we had expected. It’s a very good result for the entire team. There wasn’t much time between us: in Q1 I was slightly ahead of Tonio and in Q2, he was faster. The main thing is that we managed to drive consistently.”
“I only missed a turn in Q3 and so I took this one a bit wide. It’s clearly thanks to yesterday that today’s improvements proved effective to reach a good performance level tonight. Let’s wait and see what we can do in the race. I’m looking forward to this one and the conditions in which it will take place.”
Giorgio Ascanelli – Director
“Our best qualification of the year in dry conditions. Already in Japan, we saw that our car delivered a quite respectable time. Although I am happy with this performance, there is always a very slight feeling of regret, because I think we could have had at least one car in the top ten.”
“But we must be satisfied with this and, if we get a wet race, it will be the same for everyone.”
