The leaders and drivers of Williams admit it, they simply have not managed to get the best out of the car. The qualifying is disappointing for Nico Rosberg and Alexander Wurz, who are not even in the top 15.
Tomorrow, with unfavorable weather conditions, the team will try to make the best of its strategies. But with the rain, isn’t anything still possible?
Nico Rosberg – 11th and 16th
« We had a lot of problems with the car, especially with the tires. Sometimes we lost a lot of grip and the front would slide. Occasionally it was the rear that slipped away from me in the corners… With these unpredictable problems, it was very difficult to set a good time. Our performance is poor, and with that, it will be difficult to have a good race tomorrow. Now I think the best for us would be if it rained – maybe not as much as in Fuji – but enough to give us an advantage… »
Alexander Wurz – 19th and 19th
« After this morning’s free practice, I felt that the car was behaving well and that we could be competitive. But in qualifying, despite a good balance, we simply lacked speed. We will have to accept the situation and see what we can do for tomorrow’s race. »
Patrick Head – Technical Director
Obviously, we can’t say it was a good day. We struggled compared to the other teams, especially with the soft tires, and considering our positions on the starting grid, it will be complicated for tomorrow. In the meantime, it seems the weather is getting involved in the competition, and we will have to do everything to make the most of these conditions.
