The sweet memories of Japan are long gone for the Spyker team, who managed to secure their first championship point thanks to Sutil’s 8th place. Indeed, on this Chinese Saturday, the drivers of the Dutch team couldn’t break away from the last two positions, with Sutil ahead of Yamamoto.
However, the conditions today were dry, but tomorrow could turn out to be a completely different story with rain that could make a surprise appearance…
Mallya, the new 50% owner of the team, hopes that it will fall like in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Adrian Sutil – 21st and 21st
“We were perhaps hoping for a better place today at the end of the qualifications. The lap was okay and the balance of the car seemed good, but no one made a mistake and I think that was our maximum today.”
“We just need a little more speed because we are losing on the straights, although if everything goes well in the race this could improve. In general, I don’t think this track suits the car and I hope for a wet race tomorrow.”
Sakon Yamamoto – 22nd and 22nd
“This is a bit disappointing for us. The balance of the car hasn’t really improved compared to yesterday and we tried to do our best, but the lap time showed that we still have a lack of speed.”
“I don’t know what to expect for tomorrow, but we think it would be better to have a wet race, we might be good. We know we can do better in these conditions, so we will look at the data and hope to do better tomorrow.”
Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director
“It was a very disappointing day because we are not as competitive compared to the recent races we have produced. But in the conditions expected tomorrow, we have a compromise planned because we anticipate the rain, and I am sure we will perform better in a race like this, as we always do.”
