The Toro Rosso driver qualified in 12th position today, which was a new achievement for the small Scuderia, but he will start tomorrow, if the race begins at the scheduled time, in 17th position, meaning 5 grid penalties…
Last week, for having collided with Mark Webber (Red Bull) while they were in 2nd and 3rd place, the German driver received a 10-place penalty for the Chinese Grand Prix. The penalty was ultimately revoked yesterday, but as a sign of fate, Liuzzi’s teammate once again faced the wrath of the track stewards.
Note, however, that the sanction should have been 10 places, but given the circumstances and the strong performances of the STR02, the stewards have shown more leniency.
