Just a week ago, the Japanese GP faced very challenging weather conditions, and the teams are once again preparing to endure the onslaughts of the sky. This Asian weather seems to be very unpredictable this year…

Shanghai stayed dry for the opening day of events on Friday. For Free Practice 3 and Saturday’s qualifying, conditions were optimal, but most weather forecasts agree that the skies are likely to turn dark for Sunday.

Moreover, the drivers stated overwhelmingly last week that they have never driven in such poor conditions throughout their careers. This is nothing compared to what is evolving a few hundred kilometers from Shanghai and which could approach the Chinese coast in the coming hours.

And for good reason, a terrible cyclone, called a typhoon in this region of the world, swept across Taiwan between Friday and Saturday. The winds reached gusts of 300 km/h near the eye of the phenomenon, accompanied by torrential rains.

This typhoon named Krosa could more or less influence the weather in Shanghai this Sunday. The trajectory of a hurricane is always very difficult to establish, but even if the city were to be hit by this climatic calamity, the intensity of the phenomenon would be lesser as it would lose its activity while passing over land or cooler waters.

Indeed, local reports expect Hurricane Krosa to hit the Chinese coastal city of Wenzhou, south of Shanghai, on Sunday morning.

In 2004, the Japanese weekend at Suzuka was significantly disrupted by a powerful hurricane that was evolving near the region.
