Sébastien Loeb and Dani Sordo continue their getaway. The two Citroen C4 WRC drivers are ahead of the two Ford Focus cars of Gronholm and Hirvonen by nearly a minute.

« We must keep attacking to match Marcus’s times, » commented Loeb. « He is really fast, and it’s impossible for me to go faster; I am doing my best to maintain the gap.

« This gap is quite significant, but if I wanted to go faster, it would take too much risk. We just need to maintain this gap for tomorrow. »

Sordo continued to support Loeb by even preventing any loss of ground on the Frenchman. The Spaniard, on his home turf, seems to know the stages well, allowing him to keep Gronholm 4 points behind Loeb and bringing him before the third stage and the 4 special stages of tomorrow to just 5 points difference overall.

Gronholm, for his part, after saying he hates the asphalt special, must focus on Duval to not miss out on a podium this weekend.

« I don’t think Sébastien will have any problems, but we will keep up the pressure, so he will never feel relieved, » warned Gronholm.

« He was good today on the dry, but we could have been better yesterday… It was the last stage that put me out of reach of Loeb…

Most of the gaps between the top 10 are over 30 seconds, so it is very likely that, barring withdrawal, the top 10 will remain as it is. Loeb will then have only 4 rallies left to make up the 6 points separating him from Gronholm.
