Manfred Stohl’s off-road excursion during the third stage of the Rally of Spain yesterday almost cost him his participation in the Rally of France – Tour de Corse. However, the OMV Kronos Citroën team found a solution and will be able to replace the Xsara.
The Citroën WRC driven here by Manfred Stohl is completely destroyed. The Kronos team, with support from Citroën Sport, will therefore send the Xsara WRC gravel configuration prepared for the Rally Japan from Belgium to Corsica today. With the French rally taking place in only 4 days, repairing the Xsara was inconceivable.
On site, the car will be configured for asphalt to allow the Austrian to start the French event: « I am very happy, » comments Manfred. « I have rallying in my blood, I want to participate in as many events as possible. A big thank you to Citroën and Kronos Racing for all their efforts. »
After Corsica, the Xsara WRC will need to be converted back to gravel configuration and quickly sent to Japan for the next event.
