Domenicali, director of Ferrari’s base in Maranello – the heart of the Scuderia, admitted yesterday that he is in talks with the A1 Grand Prix World Championship regarding the sale and distribution of Ferrari engines for the 22 single-seaters – each representing a nation – in A1GP.

A spokesperson for Ferrari stated that they are in negotiations with them.

Currently distributed by Zytek and Lola, who also supply the chassis for the 2008 cars, the prancing horse brand would benefit from this publicity in a championship primarily based in Asia and the Middle East to promote itself.

A test was recently organized, which, according to the Scuderia’s spokesperson, was brilliant.

Only drawback for now; the engines will have to be able to run on biofuel or ethanol soon, as desired by the A1 championship. The engines were supposed to operate this way from the start of the season, but a production delay has led the organizers to allow traditional fuels until further notice.

Ferrari will therefore have to go green for the 2008/2009 season.
