The A1 Team Ireland announced this afternoon the arrival of Adam Carroll as the main driver for the rest of the season, which started last week in Zandvoort, Netherlands.
The English driver has just finished the GP2 championship where he won a race and could not participate in the A1GP championship before the end of the GP2 season.
« My goal will simply be to win races and to have a challenge in a championship. In A1 GP, I have an additional motivation, that of representing my country – Ireland… »
« I was very impressed with the team that has progressed well and I hope to do well in this championship.
Ireland is currently in 7th position in the championship after the first two races of the championship in the Netherlands. It is Ralf Firman who scored points that, according to Kershaw – the team’s director – will be crucial at the end of the 2007/2008 championship.
« I would like to thank Ralf for the superb work he did for us at Zandvoort, » stated Kershaw. « He has always been loyal to our driver selection and we saw last season the importance of the points he had then scored… »
Bring Adam [Carol] with us for the championship shows how serious we are as contenders to win the title.
« We are delighted to welcome Adam and we are confident of being at the forefront this season. »
