In 2008/2009, during the 4th season of the A1 GP, the World Cup of Motorsport, Ferrari will supply its chassis and engines to the single-seaters.
For the first year of this implementation, the Italian manufacturer announced the use of F1 F2007 chassis and their engines as a base for the A1.
« We will always have cars that can overtake each other, that is the most important for us, » he commented. « The current cars in F1 are not set up to do it in the same way. »
The championship, enforcing respect for its regulations, will see Ferrari compelled to make numerous changes.
« Obviously, Ferrari must base this on an existing project and therefore, as we have agreed, they will use their F2007 to adapt them to our championship ».
« For example, the engines will be more imposing, so the rear will be enlarged to resemble almost those existing on our single-seaters. »
« I honestly believe that with designers like Ferrari, our car will be incredible. »
The president of A1GP is therefore eager to see the A1 Ferraris hit the track, especially since, according to him, Ferrari’s 6-year commitment shows how promising the future of this series is.
« We are sick and tired of the critics telling us that we will not be present next season… This proves that Ferrari saw real potential in the A1 » concludes Teixeira.
