Indeed, Vietoris succeeded in the morning of this first testing session, reserved for rookie drivers – novices – to secure the top spot on the timesheet. The young German then suffered a mechanical problem with the A1 but still maintained his best time in the afternoon despite Portugal’s good performance, by just 0.001 seconds…

The gaps are quite narrow and Australia as well as Ireland complete this top 5 under pleasant conditions in Brno.

Natacha Gachnang, the Swiss driver, achieved a very impressive 6th place, impressing the entire paddock in the process.

Nicolas Prost, reserve driver for A1 Team France, who will give up his place to Nicolas Lapierre for the rest of the weekend, is 12th at over a second behind.
