Timo Scheider – who qualified in 2nd position this afternoon at Hockenheim for the last race of the DTM season – confirmed his desire to help his team win the driver and constructor titles.
The contenders for the driver’s titles are in 3rd, 5th, and 6th positions. For Scheider, the goal will be to prioritize Mattias Ekstrom, who is in 3rd place, and protect him from the Mercedes of Spengler, in particular (6th).
« We need to prioritize a successful start and then protect our positions. » Scheider asserted.
« We hope that the first round will be clean and then we can think about managing our lead. »
The oldest driver on the DTM grid this season also highlighted how difficult it would be to prepare an effective strategy for the drivers until the race is underway…
« In DTM, it is really difficult to predict that… We have to think about our race and then see and adapt to what happens… »
For the last race of the season, Scheider could, if not win, at least make it to the podium for the first time in his long career.
