Malcolm Wilson – the boss of the Ford team in WRC – plans to take his time selecting a replacement for Markus Gronholm, who will retire at the end of the season.
English has no exceptional driver to recover and making a choice among the other possibilities will be complicated, and it will take a lot of time…
However, Wilson hopes to choose Mikko Hirvonen’s teammate before the Rally of Great Britain.
« We don’t really need to rush to make our decision because there are no more Loeb or Gronholm to snatch from another team… » He admitted.
« We might be able to alternate… depending on the rallies. Maybe it will be the opposite like with Mikko Hirvonen. A permanent place. »
In principle, we are attentive and examine all the drivers… but it takes time and we hope that we will have made our decision before the end of the season. Surely with the Rally of Great Britain. Let’s hope so.
The English, however, has a slight preference for Jari-Matti Latvala: « We obviously feel that Jari has much to offer in the near future… and we have already offered him opportunities. »
« We still need to see his upcoming rallies, but in New Zealand and Spain, he showed that the important thing was to finish a rally. »
« He is a driver whom we will obviously take into consideration for the available spot… » concluded the Englishman.
