After several months of preparation in close collaboration with Renault Mexico, ING Mexico, and the Government of the Federal District, all three of which are partners in this branded event, the Renault F1 Team was ready this weekend to thrill the Mexican public. The French team concluded its Roadshow program—after Warsaw and Johannesburg a few months ago—in one of the world’s most populous capitals (19 million inhabitants). There was great popular enthusiasm from the crowd that came in droves.

300,000 spectators indeed turned up for the event, despite Red Bull having done almost the same program last week on the streets of Mexico.

On the Paseo de La Reforma, one of the main thoroughfares of the city, around the proud statue of the Angel of Independence, emblem of the city, the two Renault drivers performed numerous maneuvers to the delight of the Mexican public, known to be particularly passionate about motorsports.

This was a first for the French team in Central America, and the operation proved to be a great success after bringing together so many people in a warm and friendly atmosphere!

Renault and ING worked hard to make this demonstration happen here in Mexico, and I believe that today we succeeded in captivating the Mexican audience, who came in large numbers! The atmosphere was incredible, and it feels amazing to be part of such events! concluded Giancarlo Fisichella in the late afternoon as he greeted the crowd.

« We have been fabulously well received here in Mexico, so we were committed to putting on a great show and I think we succeeded! There was an incredible crowd along the track and I hope everyone enjoyed it, I certainly did! », Nelson Piquet shared at the end of his demonstration.

Renault, very satisfied with the results of its Roadshow program, is currently working on the development of a particularly ambitious 2008 schedule.

Photos from the event will be available this evening in the “Photo F1” section.
