Hamilton may perhaps create a new page in F1 history on Sunday by becoming the youngest world champion ever, and especially during his first year of competition.

Lewis Hamilton is convinced that his retirement in China will help him avoid new mistakes and clinch the title on Sunday in Brazil.

Reminder: Hamilton is ahead of his teammate Fernando Alonso in the championship by only four points after dropping out in the last race.

« China is another valuable lesson I take and I will try to use it to good effect for my development, » said the 22-year-old Englishman.

« I quickly got over the disappointment and since leaving Shanghai, my sole focus has been on Brazil. »

He added: “There have been many discussions with other people about how tricky Interlagos is to drive. That’s why I see this GP as a challenge, and when I arrive on the track I will study with my engineers the characteristics to start gaining a better understanding of it.”

Hamilton still bears a certain amount of pressure on his shoulders since he must finish at least second to ensure he becomes champion and thus deprive Alonso of a third successive crown.

« While I only have a four-point lead, the championship is still very open. I will do everything I can to score the points I need, » he stated.

The relationship between Alonso and Hamilton within McLaren deteriorated over the season, and the Spaniard accused the team of favoring the English driver.

The FIA has appointed a special observer to monitor the British team at Interlagos, and Alonso is now convinced there will be no injustice.

« I am sure that we are going to Brazil with the most perfect equality within the team and both cars are capable of fighting for race wins and the championship, » announced Alonso.

« Even though I am only four points behind Lewis, I still need a great number of circumstances in my favor to allow me to win. »

« But you can be sure that I will do everything in my power to make it happen. I have to prove myself and then everything else will fall into place, » concluded the Spaniard.
