Spyker, like many other teams, hopes to score points in this last GP of the season. Both drivers completed their tire comparison and car evaluation program this Friday without any particular mechanical issues.

Although the track surface was redone, the rain made the morning session conditions difficult and extremely slippery. Sutil and Yamamoto finished 15th and 18th respectively.

The rain stopped during the lunch break, the track dried up and provided a clean and dry line, allowing Adrian and Sakon to try both dry tire options. The time was not enough to avoid the last two places in the second practice session. Both drivers were satisfied with the day’s progress and are confident of improvements for tomorrow.

Adrian Sutil – 15th and 21st

« We haven’t changed anything on the car since China so that it can run Friday’s tests with the circuit’s characteristics. The track is very good with some tricky sections, but it’s not difficult to learn because I felt quite comfortable fairly quickly. »

« In the afternoon, we waited until the track was dry, and even though it wasn’t perfect conditions, we were able to work on the car and try out the tires that will no doubt be used by the end of the weekend. »

Sakon Yamamoto – 18th and 22nd

« Today, we had quite variable conditions from a meteorological point of view with light showers in the morning, making the track very wet. In the afternoon, the track improved a bit and we were able to operate with dry tires to make comparisons between the different options. »

« The overall feeling was good, but the tower wasn’t fast enough, so I will try to keep working for tomorrow. »

Mike Gascoyne – Technical Director

« A fairly useful first day. Obviously, in the morning, the conditions were very wet, but Adrian managed to get familiar with the track. In the afternoon session, which was a bit drier, we were able to evaluate both types of tires and didn’t have any real problems. We know there is more performance to come from the car. »
