In addition to the world champion who will be determined in a few hours, the other surprise of tomorrow’s race could well come from the Red Bull team. Indeed, after a final practice session at the top for Webber, he still finished 4th, and the qualifying went very well for both drivers this time.
Coulthard and Webber managed to qualify for Q3, and after the final laps, they ranked 5th and 9th with the Australian ahead of the Scot. It goes without saying that tomorrow’s race could well be a triumph for the Austrian team.
David Coulhard – 16th and 9th
« The tire choice at the beginning of the qualifying session was really strange, I struggled with a lack of grip. Additionally, I made a few mistakes and overall it wasn’t very good. I then managed to improve my time on my last lap. »
« There was a very slight gap when the team did my refueling, I had to try to do the laps without burning all the fuel, but we did our best. »
Marc Webber – 4th and 5th
« It was a good qualifying session today. It’s reassuring to see such a situation this evening before tomorrow’s race, which should be very interesting. Both cars are in good shape, and we’ve been competitive all weekend. »
« So, there are reasons to hope for a good result for the race, we will see what we can do tomorrow. »
Christian Horner – Director
« Another very good result for the team clearly showing the progress we have made over the past few weeks. Fifth and ninth with two cars on different strategies for tomorrow. »
« It’s a good position for us, and we will face this battle, which promises to be challenging. Our goal is to score the five points we need to surpass Williams, provided they don’t score, to secure the 4th place in the Constructors’ Championship. »
