Jarno Trulli is already looking ahead to the next year of F1, specifically the 2008 championship. He predicts that Toyota will enjoy a better season.
The team has struggled all year to make headlines in terms of performance. The result is meager since Jarno Trulli and Ralf Schumacher, the two drivers engaged this season for Toyota, can only boast of a single podium finish. Victory, on the other hand, has never been within reach for the team.
In fact, the successful duo only managed to score 13 points and Toyota failed to find the speed and reliability needed to regularly finish in the points.
The Japanese team finally finished the season in sixth place, but should have been higher if it weren’t for McLaren’s point deduction in the espionage case.
Trulli has, however, put the disappointment behind him to already focus on the 2008 championship.
« Development never stops in Formula 1, so a season ends while the team is already thinking about the next one, » he said.
I’m going to take a little break with my family before the start of winter testing, but I know that everyone at the factory is already working flat out on the TF108.
« We had a difficult season in 2007, but we know where we need to improve and the team is very motivated to achieve this improvement, » added Trulli.
« Even through the tough times this year, the team never gave up, and we now have the opportunity to improve performance and enjoy a better season in 2008. »
The Italian also bid farewell to his teammate, Ralf, after the end of the season which concluded in Brazil as the German announced he was leaving Toyota F1.
« Ralf was my teammate for three years at Toyota and I don’t think I’ve had a road companion for such a long period in my Formula 1 career, » he continued.
« There is always some level of competition between teammates in all Formula 1 teams and you always want to beat your teammate, but our battles have always proven to be very sporting and with a strong team spirit. »
We both had the same goal of helping the team make progress and we worked together to develop the car. I wish him all the best for the future, concluded Jarno Trulli.
