World champion Kimi Räikkönen believes that he and his team Ferrari will find it easier to multiply victories next season.
The Finn celebrated with Ferrari his final victory with a celebration at Mugello, Italy, where he was cheered by thousands of tifosi in the stands.
And Räikkönen, who last week won the title in Brazil against all odds, told reporters: “Next year should be easier not only for me but also for the team.”
« This year, we had some difficulties getting the car set up the way I wanted. We will see what we do for the new car. It is very difficult to say at this stage how good the car will be, » he added.
« But we are expecting a lot. We will see next year. We have a good feeling. »
Räikkönen also stated that he was looking forward to the traction ban, which will take effect next season, and expressed his belief that the ban will help improve racing.
« When I arrived in Formula 1, we had traction control. I think it will be enjoyable and more difficult, too, to do without it. And by no longer having traction control, this will give us more opportunities to overtake, » he commented.
His teammate Felipe Massa, however, is more reserved, as he admitted to never having driven an F1 car without traction control.
« I have not yet driven vehicles without traction, but it’s just a matter of getting used to it, » the Brazilian said.
« We will see if we need to change our driving style or if we need to change the car, » concluded Massa.
