Loeb, as we know, retired this weekend, resetting the results of the Japan rally given the similar retirement of Gronholm, the main competitor in the championship. But the Frenchman seems to have a new theory regarding his retirements this season and his few poor results.

According to him, every time he uses the car number 7 in rallies, it prevents him from winning a victory, and worse, often makes him abandon, as if it were cursed.

« I am making an official appeal to Citroën! I no longer want the C4 No. 7! » Confirms Sébastien Loeb.

He continues by supporting his theory with the facts: I had it 5 times this year. In Sweden and New Zealand, we finished 2nd. In Norway, we went off twice in two right-hand corners. Then there was Sardinia where we went off again in a right-hand corner, and finally here where we went off once more in a corner… to the right!!!

Superstition is confirmed all the more because the number 13 is very often present during the withdrawals of the triple world champion: « My 3 withdrawals of the year all happened with the same car and each time it was during the 13th stage. »

« Dany [Daniel Elena] being rather superstitious, I no longer want to have this car! They can put it in a museum or give it to whoever they want, but leave me in peace with this C4! » He concluded ironically.

Citroën uses 8 cars throughout the season for its two drivers. They have 4 each and alternate depending on the rallies. Loeb has the odd numbers, Sordo, the even numbers.

Every 4 rallies, the drivers use the same C4, which is then sent to the garages to be refurbished for the next races. During this 14th event of the season, it was car number 7 that was used. And during the 2nd stage, it was abandoned in special 13… Strange since 7×2=14…
