BMW Sauber F1 Team has officially announced the promotion of Christoph Zimmermann as the new Chief Designer in the German team. The 39-year-old Swiss was currently a Mechanical Engineer.
Indeed, since Jorg Zander’s transfer to Honda as head of the design department, no one had held that position since March 2007… Therefore, it needed to be filled, and after careful consideration, Zimmermann was promoted.
It will allow Willy Rampf, the brand’s technical director, to focus solely on his tasks and will also support Mario Theissen in his new role.
Zimmermann had been in the German structure since 2000 as a « simple » engineer.
