Stevenage, the hometown of rookie Lewis Hamilton, is about to announce that the F1 driver will have a street named after him.
After leading the Drivers’ Championship for most of the year, during which the Briton was closely linked to several cases, Hamilton missed the title by just one point, which is a crucial indication of his early career in this discipline.
The Stevenage Borough Council has deemed that the 22-year-old young man deserves to be honored for his success and has decided to name a street after him in a new development center.
Sharon Taylor, the mayor of this town, explained on BBC airwaves that: « Lewis’s success has brought a genuine enthusiasm for this sport to Stevenage. »
« Everyone in the city is very proud of the fact that Lewis is from Stevenage. In particular, our young people see him as a role model. He plays an important role with his performances that have significantly raised their levels of aspiration, » added the mayor.
« He really helped put the city on the map, » he concluded.
