Toyota and Kingfisher have agreed on a deal that will end the contract that has united them as official partners for a year. This means that the collaboration will end at the end of 2007.
This decision allows Vijay Mallya, the Chairman and CEO of Kingfisher, to focus on his Formula 1 activities with the Force India team of which he is the co-owner.
Toyota benefited from a sponsorship that proved to be fruitful by choosing Kingfisher. The collaboration was expressed through several promotional events in India and around the world.
However, Mallya is now focused on his new projects in F1, and the termination of the contract between Kingfisher and the Japanese team was considered the best option in the interest of both parties.
Team President Tadashi Yamashina-Ku said: « I would like to thank Kingfisher for their support during 2007 and wish Mr. Mallya good luck in his new ventures in F1. I look forward to seeing him again next season, even though he is now considered a rival team. »
