Jarno Trulli insists that he has not lost any confidence in Toyota’s ability to achieve good results in F1. This is despite witnessing a slowdown over the past two years.

Fighting for victory in races, and even having a very honorable place in the championship at the beginning of 2005, Trulli and therefore Toyota did not achieve a podium last season.

However, the Italian believes that this decline does not reflect the team’s potential and he is convinced that things can work with the current level.

« I don’t want to go into detail about last season and say I could have done this or that, or we should have done this or that, » he stated in Toyota’s annual report.

« The truth is, the team’s results are not good, as the standings clearly show. What’s important is that we know what we need to do to improve overall, and I firmly believe that we will. »

« This team has the potential and the available resources for real success. Even if we have less experience than most other teams, we have everything it takes to produce a good racing car, » continued Trulli.

« It is true that our performances over the past two seasons have fallen short of expectations, but deep down, the desire and conviction to radically change things are as strong as ever. »

« We have always tried to show that we work hard and do our best. By continuing to do so, improvement will surely come. I am very motivated to help achieve this goal because I don’t like to lose. »

Trulli admitted that the last season was really difficult, because the battles were fierce and there were few good results in return.

This year, there were real battles to get into the top ten, which is difficult to accept after having made podiums and fought for victory in 2005.

« We have the opportunity to shine, and I don’t see why we couldn’t reach the level of 2005. I am more motivated than ever to help the team get back up, » he added.

Trulli thinks that Toyota’s problems in 2007 were worsened by their inability to cope with the Bridgestone tire specification.

« The main problem we have had this season lies in the difficulty of reaching the optimal tire temperature. »

« That is why we were more competitive on extremely hot tracks, as was the case in Bahrain or Malaysia. When the weather conditions were cooler, we were not competitive, and when it was wet, it was even worse, » concluded Jarno Trulli.
