Super Aguri, once again, insisted that no definitive decision has been made regarding their drivers for 2008. This clarification comes just a few hours after Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson were assigned the 18 and 19 cars by the FIA.
It is on the official website of the governing body of F1 that this information was found.
The team has never hidden its intention to retain Sato and Davidson for another season, but issues, among others, related to sponsors do not allow the Japanese team to officially confirm its intentions at the moment.
And although the two drivers are very likely to be part of the 2008 adventure, the team has made it clear that it has not yet signed anything with them.
A spokesperson for Super-Aguri said: « The contracts of both drivers are still under negotiation. »
The team intends to keep its drivers for reasons of continuity but also because everyone is very satisfied with Sato and Davidson. However, no contract has yet been signed at the moment.
The teams are able to change their drivers until the day before the new season, which starts in Melbourne on March 16.
