Scuderia Ferrari, the reigning world champion, is the first team to truly enter the 2008 Formula 1 season. Indeed, it will unveil its new car this Sunday, January 6, in Maranello, Italy.
The new single-seater was built under the direction of technical director Aldo Costa – and will be tested for the first time on Ferrari’s private test track in Fiorano the following day.
Ferrari offered a preview of the new cars a few hours before the curtain fell. There are apparently some significant changes compared to the F2007 that secured the constructors’ championship.
Speaking about the design, Costa recently told Gazzetta dello Sport: « It will be completely new, even if you can’t make radical changes because of the regulations. »
« The front of the car will be different, as for the monocoques, they will be shaped differently, and there will be new wings as well. »
More than 80 journalists from 13 countries are expected for this launch. The car will be unveiled in the presence of drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa, as well as the new sporting director Stefano Domenicali, engine director Gilles Simon, operations director Costa, and Mario Almondo.
