The Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrileña remains for the moment one of McLaren’s sponsors, even though the company had announced at the end of last year that it did not wish to continue its collaboration with the British team in 2008.
The Spanish group had announced in December, in a press release, that it was ending all sponsorship with McLaren, which had begun with the arrival of Fernando Alonso as a race driver for the team a year earlier.
Despite their own plans, the Mutua Madrilena logo was visible on the sleeves of all the McLaren drivers’ suits at the launch of the team’s new car in Germany.
A McLaren spokesperson stated that according to the latest information known by the team, the collaboration was still ongoing.
« This company is still one of our official sponsors, » declared the spokesperson.
Mutua Madrilena is currently conducting a sponsorship operation through an exhibition dedicated to all of Alonso’s racing cars in Madrid, Spain.
The double world champion returned to Renault for the 2008 season.
