Michael Schumacher and Ferrari have finally agreed on the role of the seven-time world champion within the Scuderia Ferrari. This role follows the German’s decision to retire from racing at the end of 2006.

He will be in charge of the development of cars from a sporting management perspective.

Schumacher has participated in several test sessions for Ferrari since he retired, and Schumacher has announced that he will do so again in the coming weeks to help the Italian team with their new 2008 car.

« It took us a little time to reach an agreement, but now my role within Ferrari is clear: we had to find where my presence would be most useful, » said Schumacher to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

« I am in charge of setting up the cars as part of the Sports Management. »

« We have not yet scheduled any future days where I would drive the car; nothing is decided. We will assess this based on the situation: if the team needs me, I am willing to drive, but not too often, » he said.

« The F2008? The car is promising, but it is not yet in its final configuration. To give a more informed opinion, we would need to see what our opponents have done. »
