The new Force India single-seater is expected to hit the track for the first time in Barcelona at the end of next month, just a few weeks before the season opener in Melbourne.

The launch and official sponsors for the year are to be announced at a press conference in Mumbai on February 7. The team plans to test its new single-seater on February 25.

This date will mark the start of a three-day trial for the car, with which the team hopes to challenge other teams to score points this year.

The owner Vijay Mallya stated at the end of last year: « We must now work to ensure that the maximum number of people are proud of the Force India team. However, we must remain realistic. »

There will be no miracle in terms of performance in 2008. Even with significant advances in aerodynamic development, all of this takes time.

« Starting from 2009, we will be able to talk about significant improvements. I clearly know where we need to be within two years: That is, for the Indian Grand Prix in 2010, I want to see a Force India car on the podium, » he concluded.
