Max Mosley, the current president of the FIA, will decide whether to seek a new term as president of the governing body of F1 in October 2008.
At that date, he will only have twelve months left to campaign since the Paris-based organization, composed of motorsport clubs from around the world, will meet at the end of 2009 to choose its new leader.
« It will really depend on how I feel during that period but also on the behavior of the clubs. I wouldn’t want to stay in this position forever, » said Mosley, who is currently 67 years old, to the British newspaper The Independent.
Some projects could prove decisive in the British individual’s decision to run again or not. For example, the introduction of budget caps and the advent of renewable energy in motorsports or KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).
« My last major project would be the search for additional power using renewable energy. That is to say, ultimately moving towards KERS with heat recovery and energy recovery from exhaust gases, » he said.
