Renault officially unveils its R28!

The ING Renault F1 team officially kicked off its 2008 season today by unveiling its new Renault F1 R28 and its drivers at the headquarters of Renault’s Communication Directorate in Boulogne Billancourt.

This presentation took place in the presence of Carlos Ghosn, President of Renault, and in front of more than 500 international journalists and guests, including Michel Tilmant, Director of the Executive Board of ING.

The team reiterated its determination to return to the forefront this season thanks to an innovative car, the talents of the only active double World Champion in the discipline today, Fernando Alonso, and Nelson Piquet.

The President of the ING Renault F1 team, Bernard Rey, explained that the team has set very demanding objectives at the start of this new campaign.

« We hope to see the team return to its rightful place, at the forefront », he confirmed.

« That is the objective the team set with this new car. Everyone on the technical side worked very hard to overcome the problems we faced last year. »

Regarding the drivers, Fernando’s return is particularly motivating. Therefore, we are optimistic within the team and at Renault.

Bernard Rey also emphasized the added value of the F1 program, which is one of the pillars of the Group’s commercial and marketing strategy.

Formula 1 is a powerful tool to establish brand awareness in non-traditional markets, and Renault’s sales outside Western Europe increased by 16.5% in 2007.

« Our status as a leading team demonstrates that Renault can develop high-performance, reliable, and high-tech vehicles. Formula 1 is therefore a relevant and profitable investment for Renault, » he concluded.
