Jenson Button claims that there is still a lot of work to be done before the new Honda RA108 is competitive following the three-day testing that took place in Barcelona last weekend.

Button, but also his teammate Rubens Barrichello, suffered from a general lack of grip during the testing. The overall level of the team is still far from the hopes of the British driver, who in no way wants to relive a 2007 season.

However, the good news for the team is that the balance during braking, the main issue last year, has significantly improved.

Button is satisfied with the car’s reliability, but he stated that there is still much progress to be made.

« I am satisfied with the reliability of the car. In general, we made some progress over this week of testing, but there is still a lot of work to be done for the upcoming events. The car is completely new, which means we are starting from scratch in terms of development and setup, » he said.

« The weather conditions have been wet throughout the last day, which means I was able to do my first laps without traction control in these conditions. The next step is Jerez, where we will continue to keep the pressure on the car’s development. »

Barrichello added: « There is a lot of work on the car’s speed. We will be able to focus on it during the upcoming tests, and we hope to continue making progress with the setup. At this stage, I am happy with the reliability of the car. »
