The Australian Mark Webber believes that F1 races will be more entertaining in 2008, thanks in particular to the new regulations that will come into effect this season.
Some electronic aids such as anti-skid were banned in 2008. The Red Bull driver believes that these changes will lead to more mistakes from the racers and therefore a greater spectacle for the spectators.
« It will certainly be more difficult for the drivers, we still have a lot of work to do, » Webber said in the Australian press.
« There will certainly be more overtaking opportunities in 2008 as there might be some slight, very subtle errors. »
« We’ll see if the hierarchy gets disrupted, but in terms of the race, it can only be more attractive.
Marc Webber does not believe that any of the drivers can gain a real advantage over the rest of the group with the absence of traction control.
« I think that most drivers at this level are quite ‘manageable’. It would be very stupid to say that one has an advantage because of the new regulations. Some people think the opposite and that a few drivers will come out as winners, » he added.
We will see once the season has started and more specifically on March 16th when the drivers will have to adapt to the Melbourne street circuit.
« The tests are relatively simple for most of the guys because you’re running on the same track, but during the regular season, we are on more challenging tracks in different conditions. »
« The idea of seeing how the drivers will adapt to these new regulations makes us very excited at the start of the year, » concluded Webber.
