McLaren has just announced its support for the FIA’s campaign against racism. It is therefore the first team to stand behind the governing body of F1 and is officially at war against racism.

The race against racism is a program led by the FIA to ensure that the racist incidents that occurred during the recent tests in Barcelona do not happen again.

The FIA requests drivers, teams, circuits, and national sporting authorities to support this campaign.

And it’s no coincidence that McLaren is the first team to speak out in favor of the race against racism, because it’s their driver Lewis Hamilton who was the target of racial abuse in Barcelona.

A spokesperson said: « We stand with the Spanish Automobile Federation, the Barcelona circuit, the FIA, the vast majority of the Spanish people, and all the F1 fans around the world. We applaud the FIA’s decision to launch a campaign on anti-racism in motorsport and we will support it by all possible means. »

We sincerely hope that the racist behavior of a tiny minority of ‘so-called’ F1 fans during the recent tests in Barcelona was just an isolated incident that will not be repeated in the future.

« As we have already stated, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes has been racing and testing on Spanish circuits for many years, and everyone associated with our team, like Lewis Hamilton, has great affection for Spain and the Spanish people. »
